PBL Term 1 Literacy Link Rafa Mirasol

        This term, 

our Project Based Learning (PBL) started with us having to form groups and collaboratively create
Jolly Jars for the school fair.

This task helped us to begin exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we
build community through our actions?

We had to research ideas, be creative with our product, experiment with our materials and write
instructions that could be followed by others.

 I learnt that instructions need to have Steps, Verbs, a title and Materials. 

Reflection on PBL:

For our Jolly Jar my group decided to make play dough.

I contributed to my group by bringing the ingredients. I gave ideas and decorated the jar.

Our Jolly Jar was creative because we were going to make an interesting thing for people
to make and sell at the fair.

What I learned about working with others was
that you can’t always work or sit with your friends and I enjoyed working with new people.

How did we build community through our actions?
We gave back to the community and were doing a good thing by raising money for our school
to finish the bike track.

How to make A paper plane

How to make a paper Lizard Materials: Paper, Glue, Scissor, Pencil. Step 1: Fold the card in half lengthwise and stay it like that. Step 2: Draw the lizard with only the snout, legs, tail. Step 3: Cut the lines on the lizard carefully. Step 4: Draw zig zags on the back of your lizard. Step 5: Cut the spikes out. Step 6: Draw your eyes. Step 7: Open up your lizard. Try using red paper for your tongue for more details.

Endangered Animals

By stopping the people who are hunting the animals. Make laws for the animals so they can have a peaceful life threaten them to extinction. Endangered animals are people who hunt, kill and threaten them to extinction. And they cut down Orangutans, Gorillas, Monkeys homes (trees). Trees make oxygen for us to breath so it is bad for us too. Pandas are endangered because people are cutting down trees and leaves or palm trees. Rhino. Sea Turtle. Animals such as Tigers, Gorillas, Orangutans, Rhinos, Sea Turtles, Giant Pandas, Gray Parrots, Cheetah, Giraffe, Saola, Elephants, Vaquita, Amur Leopard, Marine Mammal, Loggerhead sea turtle, Manatee and Wolves.

Molten Monsters

Molten Monsters Once upon a time faraway Island that was covered in molten filled with lava creatures there were over 1500 of them on the island. An egg was hatching and now a little baby called Molten. For a long time he has been learning how to fight and hunt their prey. They can live up to 5387 years. His mother said “Our enemies are the Ice, Water, Grass and Earth, Fire beats ice, Earth and Water Fire are the hardest creatures to fight each other”. As soon Molten was an adult he was able to take care of himself. He was walking to get food then what he saw was an Ice Monster they stared at each other and began fighting Molten uppercut the Ice monster and melted it. He became a Fighter and hunted other vicious creatures. Molten walked for 3 days when he went to the forest he sees a fearless Fire breathing Dragon, he comes very slowly and pet it the dragon roared and started sleeping with him, The next day he trained him to fight and fly properly, Molten trained and trained to get stronger and spit lava to his rivals. The dragon smells a creature that lives near Molten and his dragon “it's an earth creature!”, The dragon breathed fire and Molten punched the earth creature so hard it turned into Black Stone. Chapter 2 He walked for so long with his dragon and far away from his island he sees The Ice kingdom, He sees ice giants building something big. Molten's dragon breathed fire quietly so he can make a crack on the ice so that the ice giants can drown, it was loud when they were drowning but they started doing a very loud roar so that they can call their alpha so Molten and his dragon knew that they were being hunted too Molten went on the dragons back and started flying up to the sky. Molten thought they were safe in the clouds but he looked behind and see 6 dragons chasing him the front was the Alpha giant they turned around and attacked the Ice giants, Molten use his melting fist and his dragon used his fire breathe, There were smoke everywhere and the Ice giant and the Alpha was defeated into small pieces. The ice kingdom was gone, they were the last Ice giants on the world. As they came closer to the defeated Ice giants Molten and his dragon sees a treasure it was an Ice tool they picked it up and decided to keep it as to attack other predators. They moved over to the Water giants he said “ It will be very hard to challenge the Water giants.” Walking and walking they finally made it to the Water temple.

NUTRITION What is Nutrition? Nutrition are fruits and Vegetables also The fruits and vegetables makes you healthy, strong and will give you Nutrients. 5 plus a day. Why should we eat healthy food? The reason why we should eat healthy food is that fruits and vegetables gives us a longer life, a healthy weight. Eat every 5 plus a day Example: If you don’t eat any fruits or vegetables you will not be fit and will become unhealthy. Why should you eat healthy. Your diet can help reach and maintain a healthy weight. The energy of the fruits and veggies Will make you active. Fruits Apples Banana Tomato Watermelon Grapes Pear Menus for Lunch: Salad, Carrots, Grapes, Banana, Apple, Pear, Peas, Sushi, Mash Potato, Dragon Fruits, Smoothie, Mandiran, Water Melon, Pineapple, Mussels, Pumpkin Soup, Kiwi Fruit, Eggplant, Egg, Rice, Black berries, Blueberry, Bean, Strawberry, Parsnips, Coconut, Pepper, Onions, Spring rolls, Sandwich.

Why do we kill animals

Why do we kill animals? Farmers are taking forests to grow palm oil and destroying animal habitats and threatening them to extinction. How can we help endangered animals? Don’t cut down trees because then the animals don’t have food or shelter and we will tell the palm oil farmers that habitats are being lost and numbers of animals are going down. In my opinion endangered animals need help because people and poachers are hunting them to extinction. We need to convince the poachers by telling them that not to kill animals Make laws for the endangered animals and make laws for hunting and shooting so that the animals won’t become extinct. Another threat is that people catch baby animals to have as pets and take them to different countries. In New Zealand ferrets, stoats and rats eat the eggs of endangered birds so there are not enough babies. This is what we can help endangered animals. If people dump their pets away the pets will die of starvation but the WWF helps homeless pets and they take care of the homeless pets until someone will own it.
